Prime Minister of Myanmar arrives in Russia on official visit
He will hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin
Myanmar Prime Minister’s plane landed at Moscow’s Vnukovo-2 airport on Monday, 3 March.
Min Aung Hlaing was met by a guard of honour and a Russian delegation led by Russian Economic Development Minister Maksim Reshetnikov. Employees of the Myanmar embassy in Moscow and the special representative of the Russian President for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Bogdanov were also attended.
According to the
website of the Russian President, Min Aung Hlaing and Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold talks on 4 March, during which they will discuss the prospects for the development of mutually beneficial Russian-Myanmar cooperation and topical international issues.
Following the meeting, it is planned to adopt a joint statement and sign a number of intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents. In addition, a Russian-Myanmar business forum with the participation of government and business representatives will be held in Moscow on 5 March.
Earlier, on 23 February, Reshetnikov and the Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations of Myanmar Kan Zaw signed a memorandum on investment cooperation in the special economic zone “Dawei”. As explained by the Russian Minister, the projects are expected to build a port, a coal-fired thermal power plant and an oil refinery.
