China’s Zhejiang Province to launch AI training for officials

A four-month expert-led program aims to integrate AI into governance

In Zhejiang Province, located in eastern China, a four-month educational program on artificial intelligence (AI) has been launched for local government officials. The course, which will run until June, consists of 10 lectures delivered by leading experts, scholars, and professionals from the high-tech industry. The primary goal of the program is to enhance officials’ understanding of AI and promote the integration of intelligent systems into governance.

The training began at the Party School of Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Hangzhou, capital city of Zhejiang. The program covers various aspects of AI, including practical case studies and the application of AI technologies in industry. The first lecture was delivered by Wang Jian, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, who discussed global trends in AI development. He provided a detailed analysis of recent advancements in the field, their industrial applications, and the structure of the global AI system.

The program is available in both offline and online formats, allowing officials at provincial and municipal levels to participate. During the opening session, over 296,000 participants joined online, with online interactions reaching 432,000, as reported by
