Zimbabwe’s telecommunications sector shows strong growth in first quarter of 2025

Resilience in the telecommunications sector is fueled by increased investment and ongoing infrastructure improvements

Zimbabwe’s telecommunications sector has continued to grow in the first quarter of this year, driven by exchange rate stability, an increase in subscribers, and higher data usage across various industries.

Data presented at the 2025 Annual Telecommunications Conference highlights the sector’s resilience. Internet and data usage remain the primary sources of revenue for the industry. Both the government and sector stakeholders are satisfied with the progress and ongoing expansion efforts.

“The sector is focused on strategies to enhance viability and consolidate gains. This is achievable, given the sector’s commitment to identifying viable investment opportunities. Going forward, the sector is also exploring ways to further refine infrastructure sharing to reduce costs,” said a spokesperson for the telecommunications industry.

According to
ZBC News, a partner of TV BRICS, as Zimbabwe increasingly adopts information and communication technologies, the telecommunications sector is positioned to be one of the key beneficiaries.
