The diplomat is in Moscow on an official visit
Russian President Vladimir Putin received Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. This is reported by the official
website of the Russian President.
“From the Russian side, the meeting was also attended by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and presidential aide Yury Ushakov, from the Iranian side – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Russia Kazem Jalali,” stated in the message.
Earlier it was reported that Jalali prepared a special memorandum. Its key purpose is to convey a message from Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and discuss the implementation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty signed earlier.
The memorandum says the two countries are reaching a new level of engagement. The document describes a 20-year roadmap covering cooperation in the spheres of economy, security, regional politics, trade, and nuclear energy.
According to the Iranian side, it is the similarity of Russia’s and Iran’s approaches to international politics that makes their cooperation strategically important. Coordination of efforts in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, BRICS, and the Eurasian Economic Union are among the priorities.
