Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, Li Qiang, will pay an official visit to Indonesia from 24 to 26 May 2025, at the invitation of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
Following his Indonesia trip, the Premier will travel to Malaysia to attend the first-ever ASEAN-GCC-China Summit. This is reported by the
official website of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.
According to China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Premier Li’s visit to Indonesia will include high-level discussions with President Prabowo and senior officials focused on expanding strategic cooperation. The visit follows continued progress in bilateral ties since China and Indonesia reaffirmed their intention in 2023 to build a comprehensive partnership with regional and global significance.
From Jakarta, the Chinese premier will head to Kuala Lumpur to participate in the inaugural summit between China, ASEAN, and the Gulf Cooperation Council. This trilateral meeting is being held under Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning emphasised the summit’s role in deepening South-South cooperation and promoting development-orientated dialogue. She noted that ASEAN and GCC states are vital partners in Belt and Road cooperation and play key roles in the evolving global economic architecture.
