Russia’s Cultural Week in Iran strengthens bilateral ties through art collaboration and diplomacy

The high-level event features over 130 Russian delegates

Russian Cultural Week has officially opened in Iran with a rich programme of events taking place in Tehran and Isfahan from 10 to 15 June. This is reported by
Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

The high-level event features over 130 Russian delegates, including more than 110 artists and cultural figures. Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova also arrived in Tehran on an official visit, leading a delegation of high-ranking cultural officials. She met with Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyed Abbas Salehi for talks aimed at deepening bilateral ties in theatre, museum exchange, library cooperation, and creative education.

“Our countries are actively developing cooperation both in multilateral formats – through BRICS and the SCO – and on a bilateral level. One of the key areas of collaboration is undoubtedly cinema. […] In addition, an agreement between the governments of Russia and Iran on cooperation in the field of joint film production is currently being prepared,” the Minister noted.

The opening ceremony of Russian Cultural Week in Isfahan was held with performances by the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra and the Lezginka State Dance Ensemble from Dagestan. In tern, Tehran hosts an exhibition titled Living Traditions of Russia, featuring Russian handicrafts and traditional arts.

Organised under the auspices of Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and supported by multiple public bodies, the programme includes concerts, film screenings, exhibitions, academic forums, and strategic cultural meetings.

According to the source, Russian Cultural Week will also host the third meeting of the Iran-Russia Cultural Cooperation Committee and discussions on establishing a Russia House in Tehran.
