ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba says the party will not announce its Mayoral candidate for the City of Johannesburg yet.
Mashaba’s comments come after DA federal leader Helen Zille showed interest in becoming the Mayoral candidate for the City of Johannesburg in next year’s local government elections.
He says he doesn’t necessarily have to put his hand up for the position again as the party has capable candidates to lead.
Mashaba was speaking in Alexandra, Johannesburg, where ActionSA launched its nationwide campaign focused on fixing local government,
“Whether Herman Mashaba must make himself available because Helen Zille, who doesn’t like Alexandra, has raised her hand to say she was approached. We know Helen. Approached by who? So what we are saying as ActionSA, we’re not yet ready to announce our Mayoral candidate for the City of Johannesburg. But we can assure you, not only the City of Johannesburg, but all the municipalities also we are going to contest. You can be assured that every mayor, Mayoral candidate is someone we’ve vetted, is someone we are definitely sure that they will deliver.”
