Alley of Eternal Friendship between Kazakhstan and Russia opens in Astana

A symbol of the historical unity and cultural cooperation between the two countries has appeared in the heart of the Kazakh capital

Astana has seen the grand opening of the Alley of Eternal Friendship, a new public space symbolising the strong historical ties between Kazakhstan and Russia. This was reported on the
website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At the opening ceremony, Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova noted that this event was timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. She emphasised Kazakhstan’s contribution to shared history.

“It was here that the great Soviet works that have become our common cultural heritage were created. The signing of the plan for joint cultural events dedicated to this significant date is further confirmation of our countries’ respect for the memory of our ancestors,” Lyubimova said.

Kazakhstan’s Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balayeva called the new facility a space for spiritual unity between peoples.

“I am confident that this place will become a platform for joint cultural projects, meetings of artists, musicians, actors, historians and young talents,” she emphasised.

In turn, Russian Ambassador to the Republic Aleksey Borodavkin highlighted the strategic importance of the event. According to him, this alley is a living symbol of the centuries-old friendship between the peoples of the two countries.

Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced plans to open the alley last November, according to
Kazinform, a partner of TV BRICS. At the time, he noted that the Astana Culture Days in Moscow, held in August 2024, had been widely welcomed by Moscow and foreign audiences.
