Moscow showcases traditions of Latin American and Caribbean countries
The event will take place from 19th to 27th July
A formal presentation of the programme for the Festival of Culture of Latin American and Caribbean Countries was held at the House of Latin America. The organisers are the Moscow government and the Department for External Economic and International Relations of the city.
The Director of the House of Latin America, Yulia Surilova, delivered a welcoming speech. Participants were shown a video summary of the 2024 festival. The event attracted around 100,000 visitors, becoming the largest platform for showcasing Latin American culture in Moscow.
Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Moscow Government and Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of the city, highlighted the growing popularity of the event and its development over recent years.
“I will be delighted if this tradition continues. Every year, the event grows bigger. Four years ago, we started— it was a good event, but not with the same number of guests as we have today, dear friends. Last year, in my opinion, was remarkable,” he said.
Miguel Palacio, Deputy Director-General of the Foreign Literature Library, addressed the audience via video, informing them about upcoming events at the institution.
Representatives from the Mayakovsky Theatre presented details of the cultural programme, including a performance of Love According to Mаrquez. The presentation concluded with speeches from representatives of the diplomatic missions of the Dominican Republic, Peru, and Venezuela, as well as other guests.
The festival will begin on 19th July at the Hermitage Garden and will run until 27th July at the largest cultural venues in Moscow. The programme includes music and dance shows, national exhibitions, gastronomic presentations, film screenings, lectures, and masterclasses that reflect the cultural diversity of Latin American and Caribbean countries.
