Russian agricultural exporters’ business mission begins in Chengdu
More than 650 representatives from Russia and China are participating
A business mission of Russian companies exporting agricultural products has started in the Chinese city of Chengdu (Sichuan Province). The event is organised by the FSBI “Agroexport”, a partner of TV BRICS, in cooperation with the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.
More than 650 representatives from Russia and China are participating in the mission. Delegates from The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) and more than 50 domestic agro-industrial companies are participating in the event on behalf of Russia. China is represented by over 100 organisations, as well as government agencies, industry associations and business circles.
During the opening ceremony, Andrey Sukharev, Adviser to Russia’s Minister of Agriculture, noted that mutual trade between Russia and China is actively developing – in 2025, trade turnover increased by 14 per cent.
“The PRC is our largest trading partner in the supply of Russian agricultural products. Nevertheless, the potential is enormous, and to realise it, it is necessary to expand and strengthen cooperation between the businesses of the two countries,” he said.
Ma Zhigang, Deputy Director of the Centre for Foreign Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the PRC, addressed the participants with a welcome speech.
“China and Russia are good neighbours and reliable partners. Agriculture is an important sector in the cooperation between our countries. I believe that thanks to our joint efforts, cooperation will continue to expand and achieve great success,” he said.
Russian Trade Representative in China Aleksey Dakhnovsky noted that cooperation in the agro-industrial complex contributes to food security, job creation and improved quality of life. He emphasised the high level of interest in the event among Chinese businesses, especially those from Sichuan.
Wu Ge, a member of the Party Leading Group of the Department of Commerce, spoke about the region’s opportunities. According to him, the area has a developed transport network, favourable conditions for investment and annual growth in agricultural exports of more than 14 per cent over the past three years.
President of the China Feed Industry Association Cai Huiyi said that the country has been the leader in livestock production for 15 years. In 2024, this figure exceeded 96 million tonnes. He added that Chinese companies are interested in cooperating with Russian partners.
The event was also attended by Ilya Ilyushin, Head of “Agroexport”, Dmitry Klishin and Evgeny Mironov, representatives of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture in the PRC, He Qiang, Inspector of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Sichuan Province, as well as business representatives from both countries.
After the opening ceremony, participants viewed an exhibition of Russian products. Forty companies presented their stands. Other manufacturers presented their products at a shared display. In the tasting area, Chinese guests were able to sample sweets, Belevsky pastila, honey, fruit drinks, and coffee with milk.
