Laos advocates deepening relations with Russia for stability in Asia-Pacific region
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held talks with his Laotian counterpart Thongsavanh Phomvihane, who arrived in Moscow on a visit. Following the meeting, the ministers addressed the press. This is reported by the official website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
As Lavrov noted, the parties discussed expanding ties in the fields of energy, space, transport, logistics, telecommunications and information technology, healthcare, and finance. According to him, trade between Russia and Laos is showing significant growth rates, cultural and humanitarian cooperation is developing, and the countries’ positions coincide on most of the pressing issues on the international agenda.

The Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry also expressed hope that the new Laotian Foreign Minister would continue to deepen the strategic partnership with Russia.
For his part, Phomvihane stressed that his visit to Russia would contribute to strengthening traditional ties, friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

He recalled that in 2025, Russia and Laos will celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
