Iranian company develops advanced laparoscopic surgery simulator for medical training
A knowledge-based company in Iran has designed and launched a laparoscopic surgery simulator aimed at advancing surgical education in the country. This was reported by
Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS, citing information from international ship-tracker companies.
The company, established in 2015 as a spin-off from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, has focused on the development of modern medical equipment. Specialising in robotics, the company has produced a range of products for surgery, rehabilitation, and medical simulation.
The “Sina SimLap” laparoscopic surgery simulator is one of the standout products from the company. This advanced simulator is designed to teach laparoscopic surgery techniques to surgical residents before performing procedures on human patients.
By incorporating virtual reality, mixed reality, and artificial intelligence, it provides a highly realistic and simulated operating room environment. It consists of both hardware and software components, simulating the geometry and space of laparoscopic surgery, including surgical tools, electro-surgery pedals, and recreated images of real-world conditions.
With a price one-third that of foreign models, it has already been exported to Indonesia, and discussions for exports to China and Russia are ongoing.
