China highlights BRICS role in shaping fairer world order
China has expressed its hope for stronger ties among BRICS countries as leaders prepare for the 17th BRICS Summit, set to take place in Rio de Janeiro. Speaking at a regular press briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning described BRICS as a vital platform for solidarity and cooperation between emerging markets and developing nations. This is reported by the
Global Times, a partner of TV BRICS.
Mao said BRICS plays a key role in promoting a fairer, more balanced multipolar world and supporting inclusive economic growth on a global scale. This year’s summit will be the first since new member Indonesia joined, along with 10 partner countries. Several international and regional organisations representing other emerging and developing nations have also been invited.
“China looks forward to working with all parties to strengthen the BRICS strategic partnership, contribute to upholding multilateralism, promoting common development, improving global governance, and driving high-quality development of the BRICS cooperation framework,” Mao stated.
The spokesperson also announced that Chinese Premier Li Qiang will travel to Brazil for the summit. Following the summit, Premier Li will make an official visit to Egypt from 9 to 10 July, invited by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
