Pavel Knyazev, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry and Russian Sous Sherpa in BRICS, said in an exclusive interview with TV BRICS that the upcoming summit in Rio de Janeiro will be an important step in strengthening the group’s role in the emerging multipolar world.

“I am confident that the association will confirm its ability to offer constructive solutions to pressing global issues, while remaining an open platform for equal dialogue between the BRICS countries themselves and with our like-minded partners from the Global South and East,” he said.

Knyazev emphasised that Russia will continue to pursue the BRICS strategic line, which reflects the interests of the global majority.

“As Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has repeatedly noted, BRICS reflects the aspirations of the global majority. We will continue to work consistently to strengthen this strategic line,” the diplomat added.

The BRICS summit will take place in Rio de Janeiro on 6-7 July and will be the main event of Brazil’s presidency of the association.
