DA dismisses ANC’s claims against Tshwane City Manager Johann Mettler

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Tshwane has dismissed the African National Congress’ (ANC) claims that Tshwane City Manager Johann Mettler’s appointment was unlawful.

Former Tshwane mayor and DA caucus leader Cilliers Brink has defended Mettler’s appointment, stating he was selected for his professional expertise, qualifications, and experience.

Brink argued that if there were issues with Mettler’s appointment, the Co-operative Governance MEC would have raised concerns in 2022 when the appointment was made.

“Mettler, who is not a politician and is the best of the municipal manager, doesn’t get involved in politics, his obviously taking a clear objective of the law that he wants to preserve the integrity of the city and that doesn’t suit the ANC. It is now important that the Mayor of Tshwane makes her position clear,” says Brink.
