Number of foreign tourists in Mexico rises by 10%

In May 2025, Mexico welcomed over 3.75 million foreign tourists, a 10 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. This was reported by
Canal 6 Tv, a partner of TV BRICS, citing data from Mexico’s National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).

According to the government agency’s report, in May 2025, 7,938,444 people entered the country, an 18 per cent rise compared to May 2024. Of these, 3,751,180 were foreign travellers (47.3 per cent of the total).

The institute’s data also revealed that total visitor spending in May grew by 6.3 per cent year-on-year, reaching nearly US$2.62 billion. The average spending per visitor was approximately US$330.

According to the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), Mexico received around 45 million visitors in 2024, securing its position as the sixth most visited country globally.
