Venezuela sends first cocoa shipment to Russia
A total of 3,000 tonnes of Venezuelan cocoa is expected to be exported to the Russian market in 2025
Venezuela has launched its first shipment of 50 tonnes of cocoa beans to Russia, as part of a broader strategy to revitalise its national economy through new productive alliances, according to
teleSUR, a partner of TV BRICS.
The export operation was coordinated by the Ministry of Productive Agriculture and Land, in collaboration with the International Centre for Productive Investment and the Ministry of Foreign Trade.
The shipment was carried out in partnership with a Russian cocoa company, which is also set to participate in the rehabilitation and reactivation of cocoa processing plants in Venezuela.
Venezuelan minister Julio Leon announced that by the end of 2025, the country aims to export a total of 3,000 tonnes of cocoa to the Russian market, highlighting the high quality of the national product. The initiative seeks to establish Venezuela as a key player in the global cocoa industry, diversifying its trade partners and fostering agricultural development.
The media outlet noted that this commercial exchange further strengthens the strategic alliance between Caracas and Moscow, recently bolstered by a comprehensive cooperation agreement signed by presidents Nicolas Maduro and Vladimir Putin, outlining a joint roadmap through to 2030.
