Festival in Moscow to present diversity of Thai culture
The event is expected to strengthen cultural ties and promote cooperation between the countries
From 1 to 3 August 2025, the Hermitage Garden in Moscow will host the annual Thai Festival. The event is organised by the Thai Embassy in Russia, Thai missions in Moscow, Thai provincial administrations, as well as governmental organisations of the kingdom. The event is supported by the Department of Foreign Economic and International Relations of Moscow, the Department of Culture, and the Autonomous Non-Profit Organisation “Moscow Centre for International Cooperation”.
The theme of the festival is “Thailand’s Diversity”. It reflects the cultural and ethnic richness of the country, its traditions and art.
During three days the guests will be able to get acquainted with the culture of the kingdom and see performances of creative groups from different regions of the country. The main stage will feature traditional dances and musical performances. One of the central events will be a demonstration of Khon masked theatre, an ancient form of Thai stage art, which is included in UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage.
In addition, there will be a demonstration of fashion collections by Thai and Russian designers combining traditional motifs and modern trends.
Visitors will also be able to see Thai boxers (Muay Thai). There will be demonstration performances by masters. The famous Muay Thai fighter Buakaw Por Pramuk will be the guest of honour.
A food court with Thai cuisine: tom yam, pad thai, fresh fruit, and other treats will work on the territory of the festival. There will also be cookery and traditional massage workshops. At the market you will be able to buy handicrafts and souvenirs.
The official opening of the festival will be attended by Thai Ambassador to Russia Sasivat Wongsinsawat, Minister of the Moscow City Government, Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow Sergey Cheremin, and other officials.
