Iran among top global producers of human-tissue heart valves

Over 1,000 valves have already been produced, with more than 100 patients receiving transplants each year using these products

Iran has achieved a major breakthrough in medical technology by becoming one of the world’s top ten producers of human-tissue heart valves. This was reported by
Press TV, a partner of TV BRICS.

This advancement, led by specialists at the Tehran University of Medical Sciences, has the potential to transform cardiac care by significantly reducing waiting times for transplants. The valves produced include both aortic and pulmonary types and are manufactured in sterile, internationally certified rooms.

Over 1,000 valves have already been produced, with more than 100 patients receiving transplants each year using these products. According to the media outlet, the initiative is the result of years of investment, research, and innovation within Iran’s biomedical sector.

Officials view this as part of a broader strategy for self-sufficiency in medical innovation. As production continues to grow, the impact on both patient outcomes and economic resilience is expected to deepen.
