Thailand welcomes over 20 million tourists in 2025

Thailand has recorded over 20.81 million international tourist arrivals so far in 2025, according to official data released this week. While this figure represents a significant contribution to the nation’s economy, it also marks a 7.04 per cent decrease compared to the same period last year. This is reported by
Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

China was the largest source of inbound visitors, with 2.93 million arrivals. Malaysia followed closely behind at 2.87 million, with India and Russia, as detailed by the Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

The influx of international visitors has generated approximately US$29.73 billion in revenue for the Southeast Asian country this year.

Tourism remains a vital component of Thailand’s economic growth, having accounted for 14.71 per cent of its gross domestic product and 11.98 per cent of employment in 2024. Officials are now focused on initiatives to boost visitor numbers and regain previous levels of tourism, as reported by the source.
