The 3rd International Forum “SPROUTS: Russia and China – Mutually Beneficial Cooperation” has come to a close in Kazan. Over two days, 77 business sessions were held in 17 areas and around 100 events of various levels took place.
More than 10,000 people from 40 countries, 68 regions of Russia and 28 administrative units of China took part in the forum. Rustam Minnikhanov, Head of Tatarstan, emphasised the historical significance of Russian-Chinese relations and the region’s contribution to their development.
Delegations from seven provinces were guests of honour from the PRC. Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui noted the attractiveness of Tatarstan for Chinese entrepreneurs and the willingness of companies to invest in joint projects for the production of equipment, machinery and building materials.
“An important platform for establishing ties between our companies is being created here. The republic has many advantages: very good investment conditions and an active position on the part of the regional leadership,” he said.
An important part of the event was an international exhibition of achievements in bilateral cooperation between the Russian Federation and the PRC, covering an area of 10,000 square metres. Twenty-two Chinese and 71 Russian companies presented their projects.
At the forum, 34 cooperation agreements were signed in the fields of industry, energy, logistics, tourism, science and culture. Among them was an agreement on twinning between Kazan and Wuhan. A Chinese Investment Promotion Centre was also opened in the capital of Tatarstan.
Guests attended cultural and sporting events: the “Chinese Sabantuy” Dragon Boat Festival, a chess tournament with a record 1,954 games, table tennis competitions and the 15th anniversary charity golf tournament for the Cup of the Head of Tatarstan.
In addition, the results of the BRICS and SCO Young Leaders Award were announced, which brings together young people from participating countries who have contributed to the development of society at the international level.
