The results of the international street culture and sports competition and award ceremony KARDO of the VIII Presidential Platform “Russia – Land of Opportunity” were announced in Stavropol. The street festival brought together over 3,000 participants from 58 countries over four days. TV BRICS is the international media partner of the event.
The jury selected the winners in four key areas: competitions, video contest, fashion and grant programme. In addition, the best KARDO ambassadors were announced and awards were presented for contributions to the development of street culture and sports.
Vladimir Vladimirov, Governor of the Stavropol Krai, emphasised that it was an honour for the region’s leadership to once again host an event that brings together young people from all over the world.
“We have done everything to ensure that they (young people – Ed.) can showcase their talents and creative energy. And so that they could learn as much as possible about the culture of our country, its history, its people and its heroes. The guests will tell their families and friends about Russia,” he said.
As a reward, participants receive mentoring, educational support and the opportunity to sign contracts with leading companies associated with street culture and sports.
The closing ceremony was held in the format of a red carpet and attracted more than 20,000 spectators. A large-scale show took place on stage with the participation of 250 dancers and athletes, synchronised swimmers in specially installed pools, as well as popular artists.
The winners of the KARDO Award-Competition were representatives of street culture and sports from Russia, Argentina, and other countries. They competed in the categories of “Breaking,” “BMX,” “Kickscootering,” “Hip-hop,” “DJing,” “Parkour,” “Graffiti,” “Workout,” “Skateboarding,” and “Tricking.”
One of them, Deyvid Tuesta from Peru, who took first place in the “Skateboarding” category, shared his impressions in an exclusive commentary to TV BRICS.
“I feel immense joy and passion; this is my second victory in the KARDO competition. […] This award means a lot to me – it is another achievement among those I already have,” he said.
The participants also told the international media network about the difficulties they faced. According to Artem Kononenko from the Nizhny Novgorod oblast, who was included in the list of the best in the “Freeride” category, this year’s track was much more difficult and longer than last year’s, so endurance became the main challenge. He has been doing parkour for 12 years – his interest in this sport arose after watching films about street culture.
In turn, BMX rider Jean Blanco from Costa Rica said that BMX Street should be recognised as an official sport and deserves to be included in the Olympic Games programme.
Indonesian graffiti artist Zaenal Arifin, who goes by the pseudonym Nebster, said that his main source of inspiration remains his friends, both at home and abroad.
“Graffiti will continue to evolve, and people will perceive it as a new form of contemporary art. Graffiti in my country is a very big scene – many people start painting while still in school,” the artist noted.
The final ended with a show about the heroes of the KARDO universe, whose story will continue in the new season. The 2025 competition and award ceremony was organised by the presidential platform “Russia – Land of Opportunity”, the government of the Stavropol Krai, and others.
