Brazil secures agreement to export live birds to UAE

The Brazilian government has finalised a sanitary agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), allowing the export of live birds, excluding domestic poultry, from Brazil to the Gulf nation.

According to the
official website of the Brazilian government, the deal covers avian species intended for ornamental purposes, conservation in zoological settings, and other non-commercial uses. Birds destined for slaughter or egg production for human consumption are not included in the arrangement.

This market opening is part of Brazil’s broader strategy to diversify its export portfolio, aiming to generate new business opportunities for specialised producers, the report emphasised.

In 2024 alone, Brazil exported more than US$3.3 billion worth of agricultural products to the UAE, with key items including meat, sugar-alcohol complex goods, and coffee. With this latest development, Brazilian agribusiness has achieved 404 new market openings across 71 countries since the beginning of 2023.
