Indian representative appointed as Vice-President of New Development Bank

The Board of Governors of the New Development Bank (NDB) has appointed Rajiv Ranjan, Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India, as Vice-President of the NDB for a term of five years. This was reported on the financial organisation’s
website.

It is noted that Ranjan has been working at the Reserve Bank of India for over 35 years. He has held the position of Executive Director and member of the Monetary Policy Committee since May 2022. Previously, Ranjan also headed key departments responsible for monetary policy formulation, economic research, and international cooperation.

At various times, he served as Economic Policy Expert to the Central Bank of Oman (2012-2015) and participated in the activities of the international department and the external investment department of the Reserve Bank of India. He is an expert in macroeconomic policy, financial markets, risk management, and international economic relations.

The statement said that Ranjan also has extensive experience working with international organisations, including the Group of Twenty (G20), the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and central banks in the Global South. He is the author of academic publications and co-author of three books.
