President Masoud Pezeshkian has announced that Iran has installed more than 1,000 megawatts of solar panels since his administration assumed office just over a year ago. This is reported by
Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
Speaking during the National Industry and Mining Day ceremony in Tehran, Pezeshkian reaffirmed his government’s commitment to clean energy, setting a national target of generating at least 7,000 megawatts from solar power.
The President emphasised that renewable energy is not merely a strategic choice, but a vital component of sustainable development. He also urged businesses and financial institutions to actively contribute to the growth of the solar sector. “Without energy, development is meaningless,” he said. “We must move toward clean energy.”
Iranian authorities believe that the achievement marks a significant step towards the country’s renewable energy ambitions, as it seeks to diversify its energy sources and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
