Exports between Venezuela and Colombia register record growth

Bilateral trade between Venezuela and Colombia is experiencing a historic upswing. According to Carlos Luna, director of ProColombia, Venezuelan exports to Colombia rose by 92 per cent between 2022 and 2025, while Colombian exports to Venezuela surged by as much as 300 per cent over the same period.

Luna described this exchange as showing “exponential growth”, though he emphasised the importance of Colombian business leaders visiting Venezuela to better understand its industrial capacity and establish strategic partnerships. The comments were reported by
teleSUR, a partner of TV BRICS.

Venezuela is currently working to diversify its export portfolio beyond oil, promoting goods such as iron, steel, fertilisers, and aluminium. Efforts also include initiatives like exporting Venezuelan coffee to Russia.

In the forestry sector, dredging of the Orinoco River has enabled increased exports of wood chips to China and the Middle East, part of Venezuela’s wider strategy to strengthen economic self-sufficiency.
