Chinese Foreign Minister praises results of Brazil’s BRICS chairmanship

Brazil has fully assumed its responsibilities as the BRICS chair country and held a successful summit of the group in Rio de Janeiro, which contributed to strengthening cooperation among the states of the Global South. This was stated by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in a telephone conversation with his Brazilian counterpart, Mauro Vieira.

According to
Xinhua News Agency, partner of TV BRICS, the Chinese minister reaffirmed his readiness, together with Brazil and other BRICS countries, to defend the interests of developing nations and to promote the reform of global governance institutions.

Wang Yi also stressed that relations between Brazil and China are at the highest level in history. He declared his intention to deepen practical cooperation in various fields.

In turn, Vieira noted that close coordination among BRICS countries is of particular importance in an era of global challenges.

In May this year, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva
held talks in China. Following the meeting, 20 cooperation agreements were signed in the fields of science and technology, digital economy, finance, agriculture, and other areas. They also adopted two joint statements.
