Special TV BRICS film screening takes place at International Film Festival in Bolivia

From 9 to 19 September 2025, the Bolivian city of Cochabamba will host the 4th International Film Festival “Leones de Fuego”. The event will feature a special screening of documentary films organised by the TV BRICS International Media Network, which acts as the international media partner of the festival.

In particular, audiences will be able to see two films produced by TV BRICS:
“Uralian Anomaly” (2025, film author – Ksenia Komissarova, director – Andrey Porshnyak, cameraman – Dmitry Golovko) about gold mining in one of Russia’s richest mineral resource regions, as well as “Worthy of Applause: New Roles for BRICS+ Actors” (2024, author – Anatoly Kharitonov), dedicated to the InteRussia fellowship programme in theatrical arts, organised for foreign performers by the media network and the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund at the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts GITIS.

In addition, the special screening programme will include the films “Trombonists Tromboneros” (“Tromboneros”, 2021), “Art Life” (“Vida Artística”, 2024), “Impressions of Sandun” (“Impresión de Sandun”, 2024), “My Brother Joaquin” (“Joaquin mi primon”, 2021), “Che Guevara’s Path” (“Los caminos del Che”, 2023) and “The Dive” (“Mergulho”, 2020).

The film festival will bring together the best Bolivian and Latin American short feature films and serve as a platform for dialogue between directors, actors, and audiences. In 2025, the event will present 20 short films by Bolivian directors in the main national competition and films from Brazil, Argentina, and Guatemala in the international competition.

The festival is organised by a Bolivian film company with the support of the Cochabamba city government.

“This year the ‘Leones de Fuego’ film festival will be held in Cochabamba for the fourth time. In a short period, it has significantly expanded its reach, transforming from a local film festival into a national one. Now it is reaching the international level thanks to an agreement signed with the TV BRICS. This has lifted us to a much higher level, which we are very pleased about,” emphasised Leonardo Pacheco Fernandez, CEO of the organising company.

The national competition includes awards for Best Short Film, Best Directing, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Acting, Best Production Design and Best Music, as well as an Audience Choice Award. In the international competition, a prize will be awarded for Best Short Film, and special prizes will be given for films’ popularity on social media.

Premiere screenings will be held in two major cinemas in Cochabamba. The grand awards ceremony will take place on 19 September, bringing together directors, jury members, government officials, media representatives and audiences.
