Chinese authorities released a plan to accelerate the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into the country’s energy sector, focusing on strengthening energy security, improving operational efficiency, and supporting a green, low-carbon transition. This is reported by
Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

The document, jointly issued by China’s National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration, sets targets through 2027 for the initial establishment of an innovative AI-energy system and significant technological breakthroughs in AI applications within the sector.

Under the plan, China aims for its AI technologies in energy and their applications to reach global leading standards by 2030, while establishing a coordinated mechanism for computing capacity and power supply.

Achieving these objectives will require broader AI adoption across various energy scenarios, including power grids, renewable energy, and nuclear power. The strategy highlights technological advancements in key areas such as data, computing power, and algorithms.

In addition, authorities emphasised the need to increase financial support and strengthen the training of interdisciplinary professionals with expertise in energy systems and AI applications.
