In the Venezuelan municipality of Achaguas, Apure state, a cacao planting programme has begun with the establishment of a greenhouse that will house over 8,000 seedlings.
The project, developed by an agricultural organisation, aims to position the region as a new power in this strategic crop, according to
Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), a partner of TV BRICS.
According to the Secretary of Productive Economic Development, Luis Teran, this planting will serve as a showcase for cacao in the area and will help identify productive zones with soils similar to those in the La Victoria region, which are renowned for their quality.
The initiative includes agricultural production, genetic enhancement, and training for producers in collaboration with local communities.
The programme aims to diversify the regional economy, consolidate agricultural identity, and contribute to food sovereignty.
