TV BRICS International Media Network announces the launch of the second season of the Laboratorium series on the latest technological developments and scientific achievements made in Russia. The premiere will take place on TV BRICS: new episodes will be released weekly, starting on 17 September 2025. The second season will then be adapted into foreign languages and distributed to the international media network’s partners for broadcast in various countries around the world. The first season of Laboratorium was watched in 11 countries in Eurasia, Africa, and South America: in total, the programme was available to a media audience of over 35 million people.
“TV BRICS prioritises the promotion of topics related to strengthening technological sovereignty and the development of science and education in the international media space. These are some of the key factors that directly affect people’s quality of life and national progress. We saw a high level of interest from the BRICS+ countries in the first season of the Laboratorium TV project, which explains complex scientific developments in simple language, which became the basis for continuing the series. In the second season, we are focusing on testing unique technologies in real-world conditions, experimentally confirming their performance and effectiveness,” said Ivan Zakharenko, Head of the Thematic Broadcasting and Special Media Projects Department at TV BRICS.
The second season of Laboratorium consists of 13 programmes, each lasting 13 minutes. The new episodes will focus on inventions in the fields of space technology, agriculture, housing and communal services, ecology, and healthcare. The continuation of the series was also created using artificial intelligence: the host, Lyuba, generated by a neural network, helps to understand the topic.
The first season of Laboratorium was broadcast by TV BRICS media partners in 11 countries: Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Egypt, Iran, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, China, Mozambique, Russia, and South Africa. The series was broadcast on the largest national and regional media outlets in their respective countries, such as the ANTV channel of the National Assembly of Venezuela, the Brazilian channel Com Brasil, the South African channel Durban TV, the Iranian Tehran Times website, and the Chinese portal Dongbeiwang. In Russia, the programme was shown on the National Housing Channel (Murmansk Region), Yugra TV (Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra), Afontovo (Krasnoyarsk Krai), Channel 10 and Mordovia 24 (Republic of Mordovia).
“We find the Laboratorium programme highly interesting. Its content is closely related to everyday life: it explains to viewers many scientific facts that directly affect our daily lives. It not only promotes scientific knowledge, but also introduces the latest discoveries and advanced technologies in this field. The programme’s material is structured in such a way that it is easy to understand: even viewers without special training can access and comprehend the professional information thanks to the skilful work of the authors and directors,” said Zhang Rui, Head of the “Partners” website of the Dongbeiwang media portal (China).
“We were very enthusiastic about the first season of Laboratorium. Our viewers appreciated the opportunity to immerse themselves in the topic of science and technology in an easy and attractive way, to learn about achievements that often remain off the media agenda. Such content not only arouses curiosity, but also provides food for thought about the role of innovation in a multipolar world. We are confident that the second season of the programme will be received with even greater interest,” said Ivone Alves Garcia, Co-Founder and General Producer of AsiaTv (Argentina).
“Laboratorium is a well-structured and timely series that aligns with global trends in science communication. Its digital-first strategy is an effective approach for engaging a modern audience. The programme’s ability to cover a wide spectrum of topics, from black holes to sleep control cubes, while maintaining a clear and engaging narrative, is a testament to its quality. The series is a valuable resource for informing and inspiring viewers about the transformative power of science and technology,” states Mohamed Samir Khedr, Executive Editor of Daily News Egypt
The Laboratorium series was launched during Russia’s presidency of BRICS and the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia. The media project is being implemented in accordance with the state programme “Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian Federation” with the support of JSC “Popov Radio Corporation”.
The Laboratorium program (from the Latin laboratorium, meaning “laboratory”) highlights achievements in university and academic science, successful science and technology companies, and promotes the scientific profession. In 2024, the project was presented to participants of the IV Congress of Young Scientists and the IX Forum of Young Scientists of BRICS Countries, which were held in Russia with the informational support of TV BRICS.
In 2025, Laboratorium director Andrey Gula was nominated for the All-Russian
award “For Fidelity to Science.”
The second season of the programme will air from September to December 2025 on TV BRICS on Wednesdays, starting at 12:15 p.m., 5:00 p.m., and 10:30 p.m. (GMT+3).
