Work is currently underway in Laos to open the first Russian school, whose graduates will be able to obtain dual certificates – national and Russian. This was announced by Sergey Malyshev, Director of the Centre for International Cooperation at the Russian Ministry of Education, in an exclusive interview with TV BRICS.
According to him, a plot of land has already been allocated and the concept for the future institution is being developed. Malyshev believes that the school will prepare students not only for admission to universities, but also for professional self-realisation.
“This concept, of course, will have to take into account a continuous professional track in preparing young people for the country’s future needs in economic growth, in cooperation with Russia, so that children can already receive basic professional knowledge at school in order to integrate into the economic life of their country as quickly as possible,” he emphasised.
Malyshev added that the double certificate will open up wide opportunities for Laotian schoolchildren to receive higher education in Russia, ensure better language skills and easier adaptation to the Russian educational environment.
The official also said that currently 420 Laotian students are studying Russian in seven educational institutions.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced plans to open a Russian school in the Laotian capital during talks with his Laotian counterpart Thongloun Sisoulith in Moscow.
