TV BRICS is expanding its cooperation with the Federative Republic of Brazil, which holds the BRICS chairmanship in 2025. The media network’s new partner in the country is the portal Brasil de Fato (BdF). At the TV BRICS headquarters in Moscow, the cooperation agreement was signed by the CEO of TV BRICS, Janna Tolstikova, and the Executive Director of Brasil de Fato, Nina Fideles.
The partners aim to exchange content and create joint editorial projects. TV BRICS and BdF will work to develop a unified BRICS+ information space, disseminate objective information about the humanitarian and economic activities of the member states and partners of the group, and strengthen cooperation between different countries.
“Partnership between Brasil de Fato and TV BRICS is an important step in strengthening ties between Brazilian and Russian media, especially in the context of BRICS. Our goal is to familiarise the Brazilian and Latin American audience with Russia’s culture, economy, and politics in order to promote mutual understanding between the countries. The cooperation will also help expand collaboration between Global South media. Together we will create and disseminate content reflecting the views and experiences of BRICS countries. This will help ensure information pluralism and build a closer dialogue between the members of the group,” noted Nina Fideles.
Brasil de Fato (BdF) is a media outlet founded in 2003 by Brazilian social movements. The media structure includes a portal in Portuguese and English, a radio station, and regional print editions in eight states: Bahia, Ceara, Minas Gerais, Paraiba, Parana, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, and Rio Grande do Sul. BdF’s editorial policy focuses on issues related to politics, the development of the Global South, building a fairer and more sustainable world, the struggle for human rights, and workers’ issues. Brasil de Fato is represented throughout Brazil and has well-developed international ties with partners in South and North America, Africa and Asia.
Anastasia Shishkalova, Head of the Latin America Division at the TV BRICS International Cooperation Directorate, reported that the media network already cooperates with about ten leading media outlets in Brazil, including TV channels, news agencies, and radio stations. The development of dialogue with the republic in the field of mass communications makes it possible to provide high-quality and reliable information about the activities of other BRICS member states and partners, as well as to present its own socio-political stance at the international level.
“In the year of Brazil’s BRICS chairmanship, strengthening media cooperation with this country acquires strategic importance for us. Brasil de Fato is an authoritative media outlet, widely represented both in its own country and abroad, including in Russia. The mutual commitment of TV BRICS and Brasil de Fato to building trustworthy media exchanges that promote understanding of BRICS’s exceptional role in the modern world provides every reason for exciting joint work to enrich the international information agenda,” believes Anastasia Shishkalova.
In addition to Brazil, media outlets from Argentina, Venezuela, Cuba, Mexico, Chile, and Uruguay cooperate with the media network in Latin America. In total, more than 20 leading media outlets in the region are TV BRICS partners.
