China has inaugurated the world’s first empirical certification base for 2,000-volt photovoltaic (PV) systems in Wenchang, Hainan Province, marking a major step forward in high-voltage PV technology validation, reports
Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
The new base is equipped with full-cycle data collection and systematic performance-evaluation capabilities, aiming to tackle the lack of unified standards for high-voltage PV technologies.
As a next-generation solution for large-scale ground power stations, 2,000-volt systems offer reduced cable usage and lower electricity costs compared with conventional setups. Experts emphasised that empirical research bridges the gap between laboratory theory and real-world power-station performance.
The facility will use Hainan’s conditions to advance the safe and reliable deployment of 2,000-volt systems in challenging environments, including high temperatures, humidity, and salt-spray exposure.
