Indonesia is preparing to expand its export markets across Africa and Latin America, with trade negotiations already in motion as part of a broader effort to diversify international commerce. This is reported by
Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
According to government officials, discussions are advancing with several African states eager to pursue regional trade agreements. Negotiations with South Africa have already been launched, a step seen as potentially encouraging other nations on the continent to engage in similar talks.
In parallel, Indonesia is focusing on Latin America, where it seeks to build on existing trade agreements with Peru and Chile. Negotiations with the Southern Common Market are also under way.
Indonesia currently has 20 trade agreements in force, with 16 more under negotiation and 10 awaiting ratification. Officials say this network of agreements forms the backbone of the country’s strategy to strengthen its role in global supply chains.
The move comes at a time when emerging economies are seeking deeper trade partnerships in new regions, reflecting the growing importance of South-South cooperation, the source claims.
