FESTAC AFRICA Renaissance festival gathers 5,000 participants in Ghana’s capital

The FESTAC AFRICA Renaissance festival 2025 concluded in Accra, Ghana. The event took place at the Accra International Conference Centre and served as a platform to promote African art, culture, fashion, dialogue, and mentorship. TV BRICS acted as the official media partner, supporting information exchange and cooperation across the Global South.

The fourth edition of FESTAC AFRICA Renaissance brought together more than 5,000 participants. The programme included 11 conferences, two cultural competitions, health screenings, and over 50 artistic performances. Discussions covered a range of topics, including cultural diplomacy, innovation, youth empowerment, and creative industries.

In his keynote address, Chairman of FESTAC AFRICA Renaissance Engr. Yinka Abioye called for greater efforts to simplify intra-African trade, travel, and tourism. He also emphasised the importance of unity and cooperation.

“Ubuntu – I am because we are – is the lifeblood of our future. It is only by living this philosophy that we can heal the wounds of our past and build the Africa of our dreams,” he stated.

UNESCO’s Representative to Ghana, Edmond Moukala, through a message delivered by Carl Ampah, National Programme Officer at UNESCO, highlighted the festival’s contribution to advancing Africa’s cultural and creative development in line with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Throughout the week, the festival provided a platform for artists, cultural professionals, and policymakers to exchange views and promote collaboration within Africa’s creative sector.
