Mexico to present diversity of its national culture to TV BRICS international audience

The United Mexican States are strengthening information cooperation with the BRICS countries through the TV BRICS International Media Network. The Mexican state cultural television channel Canal 22 has joined the international information exchange. The corresponding cooperation agreement was signed by Janna Tolstikova, CEO of TV BRICS, and Alonso Millan Zepeda, Director General of Canal 22.

“We at Canal 22 have a public mandate to promote and popularise Mexican culture. We strive to be a window from Mexico to the world and, for the rest of the world, a window into Mexico. The partnership with TV BRICS will allow us to offer our audience a more diverse range of content, bring the richness of the world to our television screen, and share our content with millions of households across the BRICS countries, showcasing Mexico to the world through the screen,” noted Alonso Millan Zepeda.

Canal 22 began broadcasting in 1993 and operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture of Mexico. The channel’s mission is to promote the country’s cultural diversity and to popularise science and the arts.

Janna Tolstikova, CEO of TV BRICS, emphasised that promoting international humanitarian ties through media communications, as well as the advancement of the historical and cultural heritage of different peoples, are priority themes within the consolidated BRICS+ agenda formed by the media network together with its partners.

In 2025, when a number of milestone anniversaries mark the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mexico and BRICS member states (50 years of cooperation with the UAE, 75 years with India, 100 years with Brazil, and 135 years with Russia), the country, its cultural uniqueness, and its business potential will be of significant interest to the global community.
