Malaysia to introduce cyber ethics module in schools by 2026

Malaysia will launch a nationwide cyber ethics module in schools to improve students’ awareness of online safety and digital responsibility, Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo announced.

According to
Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS, the initiative is part of the government’s broader effort to equip young people with the skills and values needed to navigate the digital world safely.

The new module, set to be implemented in January 2026, will encourage ethical and secure online practices among children as the use of digital platforms and online games continues to grow. According to Gobind, the programme is designed to help students understand the impact of their digital actions and make informed decisions online.

The module covers six main areas: digital fluency, digital ethics, digital health and well-being, digital commerce, digital privacy and security, and digital rights and responsibilities.

A pilot phase is currently under way in selected schools across Malaysia. The Ministry of Digital said that feedback from teachers and students will be used to refine and strengthen the content before its nationwide rollout in 2026.
