India can strengthen its position in the global rare earth elements market by expanding its refining and processing capabilities. This was stated by Chairman of the World Energy Council Adnan Amin, as reported by
ANI, a TV BRICS partner.
According to the expert, rare earth minerals are widely distributed around the world, including in India. The problem lies not in extraction but in building an industrial base for processing raw materials into components suitable for use in green energy.
Amin noted that China has achieved leadership in this sector over the past 25 years thanks to significant investment in processing capacity. According to him, the development of domestic production chains is becoming a priority for many countries.
He emphasised that artificial intelligence (AI) offers an opportunity for developing countries to improve the efficiency of their energy infrastructure.
“I think the advent of AI is going to be revolutionary for the energy industry. And in my mind, it’s a little bit like when we got mobile telephony,” added Amin.
He noted that countries such as India, which have made progress in the field of AI, have every opportunity to apply this technology in the energy sector.
