Tehran concludes Iran’s first international blockchain and cryptocurrency conference

The two-day deBlock 2025, Iran’s first international forum dedicated to blockchain and cryptocurrency innovation, concluded at the IRIB International Conference Centre. The event gathered policymakers, academics, media representatives, diplomats, and experts in financial technology to discuss the evolving role of digital assets in global and national economies. TV BRICS served as the media partner of the conference.

The forum became a major platform for dialogue on regulation, innovation, and the integration of blockchain technology into Iran’s economic roadmap. During the event, a speech delivered by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, was presented. He called for strategic cooperation with BRICS and BRICS+ countries, noting that digital currencies could help strengthen Iran’s financial independence and facilitate international trade beyond the traditional monetary system.

“The global economy is moving towards multipolarity, and international cooperation within frameworks like BRICS has created strategic opportunities for nations. For the Islamic Republic of Iran, this framework can serve as a tool for financial exchange methods,” Ghalibaf stated, adding that Iran has the potential to become a regional hub for crypto-assets and blockchain-based financial systems.

The conference featured extensive participation from regional and international experts. Shamseddin Hosseini, Chairman of the Parliament’s Economic Committee, reiterated the goal set by the Seventh National Development Plan – raising the digital economy’s contribution to 10 per cent of Iran’s total economy. He emphasised that achieving this objective is impossible without integrating crypto-assets and blockchain technologies into national governance.

As a result of the conference, participants reached a consensus on the need to establish a continuous dialogue platform between policymakers, industry representatives, and academics to support the responsible growth of blockchain technologies in Iran.

The event also led to the formation of several expert working groups focused on draughting policy recommendations, developing educational programmes, and exploring the use of blockchain in trade, governance, and financial inclusion.
