TV BRICS film “Uralian Anomaly” wins Audience Choice Award at Russian mining industry film festival

The documentary film “Uralian Anomaly” (2025, written by Ksenia Komissarova, directed by Andrey Porshnyak, cinematography by Dmitry Golovko, produced by Liana Beltran-Belskaya), was created by TV BRICS, won in the category “Audience Choice Award” at the VII MineMovie International Short Documentary Film Festival on the Mining Industry.

The decision was made following an online audience vote that lasted for a month. During this period, the film was viewed by over 31,000 people. The total number of views for all festival entries exceeded 90,000, setting a record in the history of MineMovie.

“This award is particularly valuable to us because it is granted by the viewers themselves. The TV BRICS International Media Network strives to create and bring to the international media market content that meets the interests and cultural needs of different countries. The success of ‘Uralian Anomaly’ at MineMovie shows that there is high demand for quality documentary films about people of labour and traditional professions. The topic of developing the mineral resource base as a foundation of national economic growth remains highly relevant,” said Ksenia Komissarova, Editor-in-Chief of the TV BRICS television network and author of the film.

The TV BRICS production “Uralian Anomaly” focuses on the work of geologists in the Urals, showcasing modern technologies of gold mining and subsurface exploration in the Sverdlovsk Region. This region preserves the traditions of the Russian geological school while introducing advanced methods of resource management.

Earlier in 2025, “Uralian Anomaly” had already received two awards at the same festival. The film was also presented at the International Film Festival “Leones de Fuego” in Bolivia, in the non-competition documentary section of the XIX Gibara International Low Budget Film Festival (FIC Gibara), which concluded in the Cuban city of Gibara, located in the Holguin province. The film also won in the category Best Documentary Film at the I-Film Festival in the United Arab Emirates.

The MineMovie Festival has been held since 2019 as part of the MINEX Mining Forum.
