China’s AI glasses emerge as next frontier in wearable technology

China’s tech landscape is witnessing a surge in the development of AI-powered smart glasses, a wearable technology increasingly designed for practical, everyday applications. Recent China’s exhibitions have revealed growing consumer interest, with visitors testing devices that track first-person activity, provide real-time translation, capture high-quality video and integrate AI assistants.

These glasses are now being positioned as functional tools for daily life, reflecting the maturation of AI and optical technologies. This is reported by
Global Times, a partner of TV BRICS.

Experts note that advances in large-model AI processing, lightweight design, and optical displays are helping bridge the gap between experimental devices and mainstream adoption.

Reduced component costs, improved ergonomics, and expanding software ecosystems are creating a fertile environment for broader consumer uptake. Surveys suggest that consumers are increasingly ready to adopt smart eyewear, prioritising practical AI features, seamless interaction, and hands-free operation, signalling a shift from novelty towards necessity.
