Presidents of Russia and Iran aim to expand cooperation in gas and electricity sectors

Presidents of Russia and Iran, Vladimir Putin and Masoud Pezeshkian, held talks in Ashgabat. This was reported on the
website of the Kremlin.

During the meeting, they discussed opportunities for joint work in the gas and electricity sectors. These areas complement the existing cooperation in nuclear energy, including the construction of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant.

Masoud Pezeshkian thanked the Russian leader for his support and assured readiness to implement the terms of the countries’ strategic agreement.

Putin also emphasised that Russian–Iranian cooperation has reached a qualitatively new level following the signing of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement in January 2025.

Earlier, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with the Iranian leader.
