A concert dedicated to the ancient Iranian winter solstice holiday Shab-e Yalda will be held on 21 December in Moscow. The holiday symbolises the triumph of light over darkness. It will be celebrated with a performance by one of Iran’s leading folk groups – the international musical ensemble Ronak. The TV BRICS International Media Network acts as the main information partner of the event.
Guests will hear live performances on traditional Iranian instruments, folk rhythms, and ritual music. The performance will feature authentic stage costumes. The ensemble represents the cultural heritage of various regions of Iran. The
event is open to all.
“Shab-e Yalda is one of the oldest and most revered holidays in Iran, symbolising the victory of light over darkness, the strength of traditions and the value of family unity, which have shaped Iranian culture over the centuries. This year, we celebrate the holiday especially solemnly: the Ronak ensemble from Iran will perform for our guests. The highlight of the evening will be the performance of the Ronak folk ensemble – one of the country’s leading groups, whose work reveals the richness of traditional music and cultural heritage from different regions of Iran and allows everyone to truly feel the atmosphere of Shab-e Yalda,” said Masoud Ahmadvand, Head of the Cultural Representation at the Iranian Embassy in Russia, in an interview with TV BRICS.
On the longest night of the year, celebrating Shab-e Yalda, Iranians traditionally gather with loved ones, read poetry and mark the start of the new solar cycle.
