
Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian. One of the topics of the conversation was the further development of bilateral relations, according to the official
website of the Russian President.
The leaders agreed to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in key areas. In particular, they discussed the prospects for joint projects in the fields of energy and transport infrastructure. They also briefly discussed issues related to Iran’s nuclear programme.
The conversation included an exchange of holiday greetings. Masoud Pezeshkian congratulated Vladimir Putin on the upcoming New Year, while the Russian president conveyed his best wishes to the Iranian leadership and people on the occasion of the national holiday of Shab-e Yalda.
This telephone conversation formed part of a series of diplomatic contacts made by Vladimir Putin on the eve of the New Year. Earlier on Tuesday, the Russian president also spoke with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The leaders discussed current issues on the bilateral agenda and the progress made in implementing previously reached agreements.
In addition, Vladimir Putin sent congratulatory messages on the occasion of Christmas and the coming 2026 to the leaders of many foreign states and governments. The extensive list of recipients included the heads of the CIS countries, BRICS, and other partners of Russia. Congratulations were also sent to a number of former leaders of foreign countries.
