Vietnam’s electronics exports surge to record high in 2025

Vietnam’s exports of computers, electronic products and components rose sharply in December, generating US$10.74 billion and pushing the total value for 2025 to US$107.75 billion, according to data released by Vietnam Customs.

The export group represented around 23 per cent of the country’s total export turnover and recorded a year-on-year increase of 48.4 per cent, equivalent to an additional US$35.15 billion. The strong performance consolidated electronics and related components as Vietnam’s largest export category by value and accounted for more than half of the overall growth in national exports during the year, as reported by
VNA, a partner of TV BRICS.

Exports to China amounted to US$16.89 billion, up 33.6 per cent compared with the previous year, highlighting sustained demand across key international markets.

Vietnam’s total merchandise exports in December climbed to US$44.05 billion, marking a 12.6 per cent rise from November. This was the first time monthly exports surpassed the US$44 billion threshold, signalling strong momentum at the end of the year.

Several major export categories posted new monthly highs in December. Textiles and garments generated US$3.65 billion, while wood and wood products reached US$1.66 billion. Footwear exports also increased significantly, totalling US$2.2 billion.

Out of 45 principal export groups, 40 recorded month-on-month growth in December. Seven sectors achieved particularly notable gains of more than 30 per cent, including other ores and minerals, coffee, rattan and bamboo products, cassava and cassava-based goods, coal, rice and chemical products. In contrast, exports of precious stones, precious metals and related items declined by 15.9 per cent compared with the previous month.
