Ethiopia exceeds export revenue target with US$5.1 billion

Ethiopia has generated more than US$5.1 billion in export earnings during the first six months of the current fiscal year, outperforming its initial projections, according to the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration. The results mark a notable rise in trade performance and reflect the country’s ongoing economic reform efforts, reports
Fana Media Corporation, a partner of TV BRICS.

Minister of Trade and Regional Integration Kasahun Gofe said Ethiopia originally targeted US$4.42 billion in export revenue for the period. Actual performance reached 120 per cent of that goal, representing an increase of US$1.83 billion compared with the same period last year.

The minister described the outcome as a step toward broader economic revitalisation and institutional strengthening. He highlighted progress in implementing the Digital Ethiopia 2030 Strategy within the trade sector.

Authorities are continuing to coordinate efforts to sustain this momentum and achieve the national export target of US$9.4 billion by the end of the fiscal year.

The strategy focuses on improving trade systems, expanding market access, and supporting long-term, sustainable economic growth.
