Indonesia has secured second place in the final medal standings at the 2025 ASEAN Para Games, delivering one of its strongest performances to date at Southeast Asia’s premier multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities. This is reported by
ANTARA.
Competing in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, from 19 to 25 January, the Indonesian delegation collected a total of 392 medals, including 135 gold, 143 silver and 114 bronze, according to official competition data. Medals were won across 18 sporting disciplines, reflecting the breadth and consistency of the team’s performance.
Ahead of the Games, Indonesia had set a strategic objective to finish within the top three of the overall standings – a goal that was comfortably achieved. The final medal tally also significantly exceeded the original benchmarks established for the national team, underscoring the effectiveness of preparation and athlete development programmes.
Para athletics emerged as Indonesia’s most successful discipline, contributing 44 gold medals, alongside a substantial number of silver and bronze finishes. Strong results were also recorded in para swimming, which added 29 gold medals, and para badminton, where Indonesian athletes surpassed expectations with a double-digit gold count.
Further podium success came from para powerlifting and para judo, with the latter notable for achieving medals in every event entered. Indonesia continued to add to its medal total on the final day through competitive performances in para chess.
