Guangzhou Medical University, in cooperation with St. Petersburg State University (SPbU), a partner of TV BRICS, will open a medical training centre in Russia to promote the international application of innovative medical technologies developed in China. This was reported by Belt and Road News Network (BRNN), a TV BRICS partner.
The President of Guangzhou Medical University, Zhao Xingcun, noted that the university has a strong scientific base and advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies in the fields of respiratory medicine, urology, thoracic surgery, and paediatrics.
The centre will train specialists in advanced techniques, including minimally invasive urological surgery, “tubeless” precision anaesthesia (individualised pain management without tracheal intubation or airway tubes) and diagnostics using artificial intelligence.
The university has led the creation of the International Alliance of Urolithiasis and the International Tubeless and Uniportal Society. These organisations bring together medical professionals from around the world for academic exchange.
In 2025, Guangzhou Medical University opened its first three overseas training centres in Kazakhstan, Turkey and Dominica. In the same year, these centres trained more than 300 international doctors. The university regularly sends specialists abroad for training, hosts foreign doctors for both long-term and short-term courses in China, and enrols international students.
Over the next five years, the university plans to establish a further six to eight overseas medical training centres and create an international training network covering Central Asia, West Asia, Europe, South America, and the Caribbean. The network will enable the training of at least 200 foreign doctors per year.
