TV BRICS to give new impetus to Russian language promotion in global media space

The values of Russian culture and Russian educational programmes will be widely represented in the global information space. A corresponding cooperation agreement was signed by Tatiana Shlychkova, Executive Director of the Russkiy Mir Foundation, and Janna Tolstikova, CEO of TV BRICS. Through joint efforts, the partners will promote and popularise the Russian language, facilitate the dissemination of objective information about Russia, and implement cultural and humanitarian projects.

The Russkiy Mir Foundation is a Russian non-profit organisation established in accordance with a decree of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, dated 21 June 2007. The foundation’s objectives include supporting and promoting the Russian language worldwide, strengthening its position as a language of international communication, and enhancing the role of the Russian Federation in the global humanitarian space.

Executive Director Tatiana Shlychkova noted that the partnership with TV BRICS marks a transition to a fundamentally new level in promoting Russia’s humanitarian presence abroad.

In 2025, TV BRICS acted for the first time as an international information partner of the 17th Assembly of the Russian World and co-organised a special session entitled “A New Media Dimension: Expanding Dialogue – Strengthening Trust” for international and Russian media professionals.

Support for national languages and the languages of smaller peoples of BRICS occupies a special place in the activities of TV BRICS. The media network broadcasts its own educational television programmes in member countries, organises linguistic and cultural teleconferences, supports language Olympiads and the publication of world classics in BRICS languages, and develops international projects. For example, TV BRICS, together with its partner – the major Chinese media outlet People’s Daily Online produced the series “Confucius Institute in Russia – a Conduit of Culture along the Belt and Road”.

As part of promoting Russian humanitarian values, TV BRICS also cooperates with the Moscow Kremlin Museums, the Bolshoi Theatre, leading Russian universities, and the Indian Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature (INDAPRYAL).
